Cox's Part I

I had been in Doha for 5 years without travelling anywhere. Don't get me wrong. Doha is not a bad place, but it sure is EXTREMELY boring. Especially during the holidays. I go to dad -

"We NEED to go travelling this time. I have 13 days break and I cannot spend them in Doha"

Dad agrees, "Yes!" I was almost ready to jump with excitement but then.. "Lets go to Bangladesh"

My excitement had replaced by disappointment. My past experiences had not been very pleasant. The last time I visited BD being that when both my grandparents died. Also, even before that I was never let to go out of the house in the city and in ways BD was more boring than Doha.

With the determination to change my father's mind, "No! We are not going there" I said, "I want us to go to Singapore. I always wanted to go there and this time that is the place we are going."

Dad realized there is no use of arguing with me. After that we rushed to the travel agency. There was no way we could get the visa on time....

When times get hard

When times get hard
When you don’t know what to do
And the whole world seems charred
and u wish somewhere else u had flew

screw the world since they are blind
to not notice a person so kind
walk with ure head held high
since, u belong to the sky

but if you are still scared of the winter ahead

and n u cant get it off ure mind
remember this, as someone wise once said

if winter comes, spring cant be that far behind

"Duster"

I was in first grade. I have always been a person with low self esteem and extremely scared of anyone and anything. Sunita teacher was my class teacher (Every class is assigned a class teacher, who takes attendance, calls your parents if you have been bad etc). I was really scared of her. Well I was scared of any and every teacher, since some of them used to beat you up, in case you did something wrong. One day, she asked me "You! The smallest one in the third bench, go and clean the duster." Scared and having no idea how to clean a duster I went outside the class. I thought to myself, "Hmmm now how do people clean a duster?; Do you wash them?, Ugh!". I went to the toilet, i put a little water, "No!! This is just making it worse." Confused and scared to go to class without completing what my teacher told me to do, I stand outside my class. After ten minutes of wandering, I met a boy who was may be 2-3 years elder to me. He comes up to me and asks, "Were you punished?", "Why did you do?" I explained that I was not punished, but I was in a difficult situation. He could not stop laughing. He came up to me, and told "You just hit the duster as hard as u can to the wall or pillar till you feel like its clean." He cleans it for me, I go into class, lie to the teacher that I was lost, which made the class laugh and I sat there with the satisfaction that I accomplished the task (Or in reality, got it accomplished ;) )

What happened after that?

What happened after that? ... Well who cares? Lets just say by the end of the premedical program he had a crush on someone, had an amazing but really annoying best friend, an elder sister and few other really really special friends without whom he cannot imagine life right now. Oh also, he did really well one semester, really bad one semester, was accused of plagiarism, got into medical school and is on a 3 month vacation now.

College Orientation - Part 1

A Karwa taxi stops in front of the main entrance. A 16 year old boy - confused, rather shy - gets off the cab n walks towards the entrance of the University. Its his first day of college orientation and he is already late for breakfast with the rest of the class. He runs inside, grabs the package that has his name and continues running to the breakfast venue. When he reaches there, he finds the rest of his class....They all seem to know each other...The boy can recognize a few faces from the display pictures on facebook but thinks he doesn't know them well enough to approach them.

The buffet was another challenge for him. He was vegetarian and the food did not seem to have labels exclaiming its ingredients. He takes a cake and grabs a glass of orange juice and sits down on a table with the Math professor and two other students.
